Our Hospital Stay

In an effort of catching this blog up I am back to our stay in the hospital. Delivery day was of course busy, but soon enough in the early evening our families left and it was just the three of us. That felt a little surreal, but we adjusted soon enough. We spent as much time relaxing/sleeping as we could while Becca napped in between feedings and diaper changes. Poor Jordan had to quickly learn how to change diapers, because I was still tethered to the hospital bed. He did a great job though, despite a few meltdowns from all three of us. The nurses were so helpful as well. We did end up sending Becca to the nursery for a two hour stretch and we were able to get a good nap. I felt so bad doing it, like I was failing my baby girl, but it was best for all of us!

Wednesday and Thursday consisted of relaxing, feeding, and visits from family and a few friends. We really just tried to enjoy the time where we had hospital and family help. Wednesday I got my catheter and IV out, so I was able to slowly start getting up and walking around. Still taking it easy of course. Becca was usually taken away for a few hours mid day for the pediatricians to check her in the nursery.

Friday was discharge day and I felt like we were constantly waiting to be rushed! She had her third test done with the audiologist this morning. Unfortunately she had failed the first two. They did the third one in our hospital room and she passed. We were nervous about the outcome, but they said it was common especially when they babies get upset (crying/screaming) during the exam. The pediatrician checked her out one last time and we got our hospital photos taken. After waiting until late afternoon for the doctor to come check me one last time we were discharged a little after 5.

We had a great hospital stay. All the nurses were so helpful, informative and friendly. It was comforting to know that experienced help was right there!!
